Vulnerable Sector Check with Mark Feasby VP of Administration

March 01 2023

Many employers use a criminal background check as part of the pre-employment screening process. A criminal background check shows a person’s convictions, arrest warrants, outstanding charges, and other criminal records.

Employers need to know if a candidate has a criminal record related to any of the duties they may be performing in their position. For instance, if you’re hiring someone to handle your finances, you would want to know if they’ve been charged with fraud-related crimes.

A vulnerable sector check includes the same information included in a traditional criminal background check and will also check to see if the applicant has a pardon for any sexual offences.

Vulnerable sector checks are required in positions where the employee or volunteer is in a position of trust or has authority over children or vulnerable persons. These roles can include child youth care work, homecare, social worker, etc.

To talk more about vulnerable sector checks, here is Triton’s VP of Administration, Mark Feasby.
